Course Opening Friday April 15th

We are going to open the course this Friday morning at 8am. Its always a stressful time of the year for me as people are itching to get out and play their golf course and I personally feel the pressure. I'm always trying to do what I think is best for the golf course as we prepare it not only for opening but also for the season. This is a very serious responsibility and one that I have never taken lightly.

We have been busy all week with cleanup of the course. Greens will be mowed this week for the first time, that's always exciting to me. We were finally able to get the final cover off the 15th green yesterday. The snow and ice along the left side was pretty significant. We were also able to get a look at the 5th tees finally. And you can actually drive a cart through the 15th tee area. We do have a few small areas of ice damage on some greens. We have already seeded these areas. The 7th green will be a the only temp. green as it had some crown hydration damage along the front. The majority of this green is in good shape, but we need to get some seed started before we put traffic on it. The other turf areas (fairways and tees) all look pretty good. We have also already verticut greens, trying to pull out some dead leaf tissue and thatch.

I'm excited to get the year going and hope we have plenty of good golf weather. Have fun out there.
