Here we are in early July and the golf course is playing well. Iv concentrated a lot of our efforts on greens this season. Spending more money on their care and I think it shows. The new programs have given us good solid consistent speeds throughout. We have been between 10' and 11' on the stimpmeter on a daily basis. That's a very good speed for the slope of our greens.
The rest of the course is faring well. Its been hot and dry so that means the ground is very firm. We are irrigating fairways on a regular basis, but its difficult with our system to put out enough water to keep up. So there are some dormant areas in fairways starting to show up. If some more resources were available we could tackle these areas with wetting agents that help the water penetrate the soils, but they are extremely expensive.
Our summer work has been based on attention to detail items. We have also been edging out bunkers. This is very time consuming and we have been at it for about a month, completing about half of the courses bunkers thus far. We should be close to done in a week or two. Just in time for our busy tournaments to start up.
